Our vision is that Waterways is a place where, first and foremost, water is the centerpiece of our lifestyle… a place where interconnectivity and accessibility by boat enhance daily living for our residents. With this vision in mind, we have expanded our freshwater lake known as Grand Lagoon, thereby creating more surface area for fishing and kayaking, along with more future lakefront homesites. Waterfront homesites are available in The Enclave and Parkway South!
Waterways Marina, which will provide direct access to the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean, is under active construction and will be fully operational by May of 2020. We are also in the process of creating our Scenic Parkway, a road that will connect our community entryway to WaterWays Marina. Scenic Parkway is more than a road… it’s an experience. To get to the Marina, visitors will make this spectacular drive with dramatic views of the glistening waters of our Grand Lagoon. Multiple expansive bridges will be built as part of Scenic Parkway. The first of these spans 350 feet and is already complete!
We are proud to share that our new, state-of-the-art Guard House is currently under construction! By late spring, construction will be complete and residents will be given discreet RFID readers for their vehicles for improved ease of access. We will also put in place a new and improved visitor management system which will utilize advanced access technology. We look forward to the completion of this beautiful facility!
In RidgeWood Park, our newest community greenspace, the Events Lawn, is also nearing completion. Featuring a natural, grassy amphitheatre, this park will provide the perfect setting for movie nights under the stars and concerts in the park. It will also feature ample space to play and toss a ball, as well as passive amenities such as bocce ball, basketball, and grass volleyball for residents to enjoy. Planning is already in the works for a Summer Kick Off Concert that will take place here!
Our goal with the WaterWays Garden Club is to make our shared community gardens beautiful while simultaneously fostering a sense of community and creating lasting friendships. Organized by WaterWays’ LifeStyle Director, Becca Sweeney, the club is a way for residents to learn about topics such as irrigation techniques, local soils, and even seasonal plants and vegetation that repel bugs and pests. Becca says, “many of our residents are not natives of this region, so there have been many questions and answers discussed about how to make a garden thrive in sandy soil and in the coastal climate. The good news is that gardens can thrive all year long in this area. We just need to cultivate a community knowledge and shared educated mindset on working together and learning about what this region can offer. Our residents are excited about working for their own gardening education and making a group effort together.” What a wonderful way to share some healthy, outdoor fun! Did you see our garden feature in Ideal Living Magazine?
In March, we kicked off our first ever "First Friday," event which will continue nearly every month. At this event, residents enjoyed mingling with their neighbors and resident artist Ana L. displayed her beautiful work. Local musician Liv Annalise performed at the event, and everyone really enjoyed celebrating our local art scene! Future First Fridays will always feature different local artists, each with their own unique styles and talents!

Jessica and Ryan Belfry moved to Waterways in 2012, which makes them some of the first residents in the community. Moving all the way from Green Bay, Wisconsin, the Belfrys fell in love with everything coastal Georgia has to offer. The couple first stumbled across WaterWays when Jessica decided to make the move down south and open up her own business. Today, both Jessica and Ryan are successful business owners in Savannah and live with their two sons here in WaterWays.
Jessica’s business, Hustle + Blow Dry Bar, is located in Savannah and offers hair styling services as well as natural beauty retail products. This brick and mortar store is just one location of her business, The Lily Collective, which features an online store and beauty services for weddings.
Ryan owns The Louver Shop of Savannah, one of 26 other locations for Louver custom window treatments. Services include custom shutters, blinds, and shades. All products are American-made.
The Belfrys love the peace and serenity that WaterWays offers in contrast to their busy, entrepreneurial lives.
How did you choose Waterways?
“We fell in love with Waterways when we drove through the gate for the first time. The trees, wildlife, and access to the lagoon system were a major draw. We loved being able to take nature walks and kayak with no people around. With our busy lifestyle, we knew that once we hit the WaterWays property, all of that hustle and bustle would have to wait for another day so that we could enjoy the serenity the property has to offer.”
What is your favorite part about living in Waterways?
“Being one of the first residents in Waterways, we have had the opportunity to meet amazing families that share like interests. We love the security of knowing that, when our kids are out playing, they are also being watched by the neighbors, helping us to keep them in check! Because we do not have any extended family, such as grandparents, that live close to us, we have created some really strong bonds with some of the other residents… to the point that we see them as aunts, uncles, cousins, and stand-in-grandparents when we need them most.”
We've gotten so many great #MyWaterwaysPets entries and we can't wait to choose the winners. Here's one of our favorites so far that has us so ready for spring boat rides with our furry friends!
